The Venture Café community, committed to the mission of “Connecting Innovators to Make Things Happen,” has brought about numerous “Happenings” in the past. Founder and CEO of Peace Works, building cross-border ecosystems that connect globally minded talent with real business opportunities in Japan. With over 20 years in Tokyo across education, workforce development, and cross-cultural collaboration, Thom knows what it takes to make partnerships and people land in a new market.
東京大学大学院在籍時にエンジニアとしてスタートアップを共同創設。2008年より三菱総合研究所で主に新規事業創出関連のコンサルティングに参画。スタンフォード大学留学後、2019年よりデジタルガレージでスタートアップ支援・投資をリード。2021年にDGインキュベーションを設立し、取締役CIOとして3ファンドを統括。2025年より現職。
三菱総合研究所にて、日系民間企業の海外展開支援の実績を豊富に有する。ベトナム三菱商事に2年間出向し、日系企業による現地での事業開発にも関与。

本セッションでは、三菱総合研究所とケップルがスタートアップ経営層を交えて、新たに始まった経産省の海外進出支援プログラムの概要とASEANの中で今後特に高い成長が期待されるメコン地域への進出機会について発信します。
■ 開催背景
ASEANは、日本企業にとって重要な成長市場として注目されています。
本支援プログラムは、経済産業省の関連組織である日・ASEAN経済産業協力委員会により、令和2年度補正予算「アジアDX等新規事業創造推進支援事業」の下、「日本発スタートアップ等のメコン地域進出支援モデル構築調査事業」の一環で実施しています。日本および進出先国の現地の官民主体が連携し、日本発スタートアップ・中小企業のASEAN、とりわけメコン地域への進出や新たなビジネス機会の創出に向けた取り組みを進めています。
本セッションでは、こうした地域でのビジネスの可能性に焦点を当て、最新の進出支援プログラムをご紹介しつつ、現地でのリアルな事業展開事例や実践的な知見をお届けします。

東京大学大学院在籍時にエンジニアとしてスタートアップを共同創設。2008年より三菱総合研究所で主に新規事業創出関連のコンサルティングに参画。スタンフォード大学留学後、2019年よりデジタルガレージでスタートアップ支援・投資をリード。2021年にDGインキュベーションを設立し、取締役CIOとして3ファンドを統括。2025年より現職。
三菱総合研究所にて、日系民間企業の海外展開支援の実績を豊富に有する。ベトナム三菱商事に2年間出向し、日系企業による現地での事業開発にも関与。
