SCG Korea proudly presents "The 2026 May: JAPAN KOREA BEST Startup IR & Intensive Meet Up," a special Thursday Pitching session at CIC Venture Cafe Tokyo on May 28, 2026. This session brings six (6) of Korea's most promising SCG-incubated startups to the Japanese market for live IR pitching and intensive networking with Japanese investors, corporates, and innovation partners.
The participating startups represent a curated selection of next-generation Korean technology companies across Industrial AI Robotics, MedTech & Diagnostics, Green Materials & Battery Recycling, Hydrogen Safety Sensors, Smart Livestock AI, and EdTech / Generative AI. Each company will deliver a focused IR pitch (business model, traction, partnership needs, and investment ask), followed by an intensive 1:1 meet-up segment designed to spark concrete cross-border collaboration, distribution partnerships, joint R&D, and follow-on investment opportunities between Korea and Japan.
Through this session, SCG Korea aims to strengthen the Korea–Japan startup corridor and accelerate the global expansion of high-potential Korean deep-tech ventures into the Japanese ecosystem.

概要 | Descriptions：Pragmatic Branding for Startups
In this session, Brian will be demystifying the branding process from a founder's perspective.
Most branding advice is built for companies that already know who they are. For early-stage startups, where identity is a moving target and decisions get made before clarity arrives, that advice doesn't quite fit. This workshop reframes branding as a pragmatic, operational tool – what you decide to do, who you say no to, what your stack actually communicates.
Participants will work through founder-level brand questions in a participatory format and leave with sharper, more answerable questions about their own startup. The session draws on facilitation methods Brian learned during his MA at Hyper Island, structured around the Double Diamond design process.

From DNA analysis and facial recognition to digital surveillance and AI-assisted investigations, technology is transforming how crimes are solved around the world. But these technologies can still be fallible.
This talk will provide a high-level introduction to modern crime investigation technology used in the United States, followed by an introduction of the case of Christopher Payne, an American man detained in Japan for several years in connection with a conviction based heavily on disputed DNA evidence.

Brian Bovi is the founder of 場合+う baau.studio, a Creative Technology studio working at the intersection of design, brand, and product strategy.
Previously Product Manager at STOKR (Luxembourg-based fintech, $2B+ processed) and co-founder of Inkjourney. He holds an MA in Digital Management with Distinction from the digital creative business school Hyper Island, in Stockholm, Sweden — an approach he carries into his own workshop facilitation.
As a Creative Technologist, his current work centers on working across silos to make new and exciting things happen.

Johnny Pawlik is a British strategist, consultant, and founder of Mantra Media, a UK-based communications and business development consultancy supporting organisations across Japan, Europe, and the Middle East. He is also the Co-Founder of global retail brand Atelier Japan.
For more than a decade, Johnny has worked closely with Japanese businesses, tourism organisations, government initiatives, founders, and cultural projects to strengthen international visibility, commercial growth, and cross-cultural communication.
His work spans strategic communications, international partnerships, brand positioning, and storytelling, with a particular focus on helping organisations communicate authenticity and long-term value to overseas audiences.
Johnny regularly supports projects connected to improving people’s lives, regional revitalisation, innovation, and international collaboration between Japan and Europe.
2021年に早稲田大学創造理工学研究科修了。在学時代は東京女子医科大学先端生命医科学研究所に交換学生として在籍し、立体組織を活用した創薬開発支援機器の研究開発を実施。新卒でFood Tech領域を専門とするコンサルティングファームに所属し、大手企業の戦略策定支援、新規事業立案支援に従事。大学院時代の恩師らと再会し、2025年3月にCircular Cell Culture株式会社を創業。
細胞性食品の業界団体日本細胞農業協会理事。国内最大級の細胞農業のカンファレンス「細胞農業会議」において2023年より統括。東京大学の投資事業会社東大IPCにて4年間ディープテックスタートアップ調査などに従事。また、東京大学竹内研究室にて細胞性食品(培養肉)研究を行う。日本学術振興会特別研究員。
2010年、University of Oxford Ph.D (化学)取得。東北大学 PD研究員、東芝研究開発センター システム技術ラボラトリーを経て、2015年10月にインテグリカルチャーを共同創業。

SCG Korea proudly presents "The 2026 May: JAPAN KOREA BEST Startup IR & Intensive Meet Up," a special Thursday Pitching session at CIC Venture Cafe Tokyo on May 28, 2026. This session brings six (6) of Korea's most promising SCG-incubated startups to the Japanese market for live IR pitching and intensive networking with Japanese investors, corporates, and innovation partners.
The participating startups represent a curated selection of next-generation Korean technology companies across Industrial AI Robotics, MedTech & Diagnostics, Green Materials & Battery Recycling, Hydrogen Safety Sensors, Smart Livestock AI, and EdTech / Generative AI. Each company will deliver a focused IR pitch (business model, traction, partnership needs, and investment ask), followed by an intensive 1:1 meet-up segment designed to spark concrete cross-border collaboration, distribution partnerships, joint R&D, and follow-on investment opportunities between Korea and Japan.
Through this session, SCG Korea aims to strengthen the Korea–Japan startup corridor and accelerate the global expansion of high-potential Korean deep-tech ventures into the Japanese ecosystem.

In this session, Brian will be demystifying the branding process from a founder's perspective.
Most branding advice is built for companies that already know who they are. For early-stage startups, where identity is a moving target and decisions get made before clarity arrives, that advice doesn't quite fit. This workshop reframes branding as a pragmatic, operational tool – what you decide to do, who you say no to, what your stack actually communicates.
Participants will work through founder-level brand questions in a participatory format and leave with sharper, more answerable questions about their own startup. The session draws on facilitation methods Brian learned during his MA at Hyper Island, structured around the Double Diamond design process.

This talk will provide a high-level introduction to modern crime investigation technology used in the United States, followed by an introduction of the case of Christopher Payne, an American man detained in Japan for several years in connection with a conviction based heavily on disputed DNA evidence.

Brian Bovi is the founder of 場合+う baau.studio, a Creative Technology studio working at the intersection of design, brand, and product strategy.
Previously Product Manager at STOKR (Luxembourg-based fintech, $2B+ processed) and co-founder of Inkjourney. He holds an MA in Digital Management with Distinction from the digital creative business school Hyper Island, in Stockholm, Sweden — an approach he carries into his own workshop facilitation.
As a Creative Technologist, his current work centers on working across silos to make new and exciting things happen.

Johnny Pawlik is a British strategist, consultant, and founder of Mantra Media, a UK-based communications and business development consultancy supporting organisations across Japan, Europe, and the Middle East. He is also the Co-Founder of global retail brand Atelier Japan.

2021年に早稲田大学創造理工学研究科修了。在学時代は東京女子医科大学先端生命医科学研究所に交換学生として在籍し、立体組織を活用した創薬開発支援機器の研究開発を実施。新卒でFood Tech領域を専門とするコンサルティングファームに所属し、大手企業の戦略策定支援、新規事業立案支援に従事。大学院時代の恩師らと再会し、2025年3月にCircular Cell Culture株式会社を創業。
細胞性食品の業界団体日本細胞農業協会理事。国内最大級の細胞農業のカンファレンス「細胞農業会議」において2023年より統括。東京大学の投資事業会社東大IPCにて4年間ディープテックスタートアップ調査などに従事。また、東京大学竹内研究室にて細胞性食品(培養肉)研究を行う。日本学術振興会特別研究員。
2010年、University of Oxford Ph.D (化学)取得。東北大学 PD研究員、東芝研究開発センター システム技術ラボラトリーを経て、2015年10月にインテグリカルチャーを共同創業。
